Kristen Swanson

The Loudon Arts Council has selected Kristen Swanson as the Featured Artist for July 2003. Swanson graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1998 with a Fine Arts degree in ceramics. Pregnant with her first child at the time of her graduation, she has been working in a studio constructed at her Lovettsville home, in between parenting her two young sons.

Swanson's hand built porcelain, characterized by simple, elegant lines, focuses on relationships and how objects are contained in an environment. Along with ceramics, she is exploring textiles with embroidery inspired by her ceramic forms. Her work is currently being shown at Rendezvous Gallery in Leesburg.
