Bill Schmidt

Bill Schmidt has been a full-time professional plein air painter for over 20 years. His work is in a "loose realistic" style that reflects the influence of the American and French Impressionists. Bill's topics range from marines to countrysides, gardens to city scenes. He is very attracted to lovely older towns like Leesburg because of their interesting and colorful architecture. Painting on location allows him to depict the changing nuances of light and shadows that can't be captured by working from photographs.

Memberships include the Oil Painters of America, Washington Society of Landscape Painters, and the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association. Bill Schmidt is represented by the Gleedsville Art Gallery at 5 W. Loudon Street. Additional paintings can be seen at www.billschmidt.net.
