Andrew McKnight

The Loudoun Arts Council has selected environmental engineer-turned-songwriter Andrew McKnight as the artist of the month. McKnight is a high-energy crowd pleaser for audiences nationwide, from intimate unplugged house concerts to large stages such as the New Artist showcases at the Falcon Ridge Folk, Kerrville Folk and Napa Valley Music Festivals. Andrew lives in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Middleburg, Virginia, and a sense of those mountains, their peoples, and their history often pervades his words and musical stylings. Andrew tours nationally as a full-time performer, with his resumé including performances at the Kennedy Center, Mountain Stage's NewSong Festival, Chattanooga's Riverbend Festival and Baltimore's blockbuster Artscape Festival as well as renowned listening rooms such as The Birchmere (DC), Swallow Hill (Denver), Uncle Calvin's (Dallas), The Fret House (LA), and Nashville's Bluebird Cafe. Andrew is available either as a solo performer or in the mid-Atlantic region with the American roots music trio Dang Varmints! for concerts, festivals and special performances. He leads workshops for all ages on creative and musical writing, environmental education and American culture as well as various aspects of the acoustic music industry for professional and amateur musicians.
