Kristin SawyerKristin Sawyer Kristin Sawyer

Kristin Sawyer has been an active participant in and supporter of the arts her entire life. Whether receiving music training through the Royal Church School of Music as a young choir singer, dancing with the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, earning degrees in art history and art therapy, or trying her hand at writing "kid lit," she has experienced the wonder and magic of creative expression and always looks for ways to foster that in the communities in which she lives, works, and plays.

Over the last 30 years, Kristin has combined her passion for the arts with her professional experience in communications, marketing, event planning, and fundraising/development. She has written feature articles and press releases on a variety of arts-related events and activities, helped plan small- and large-scale events for fundraising and arts-promotion, and developed a range of marketing materials.

In her volunteer work, she has facilitated art groups in two local churches, developed and led an afterschool program combining art and literacy, and curated a faith-based art show. Kristin holds an unwavering belief in the power of arts to

  • Express the sometimes inexplicable,
  • Enrich communities and bring people together,
  • Nurture health and well-being,
  • Stimulate creative thinking and expression, and
  • Explore culture and history.

She knows the world would be a healthier and happier place with more arts.

Kristin is currently an editor with the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine. During her downtime, when she’s not cheering on her boys’ football teams, she creates jewelry, is learning to felt, paints with watercolors, watches movies and musicals, reads, cuddles kitties, and tries to live her life with joy and intention.
