Arts in OfficesThe Loudoun Arts Council believes that anywhere people gather to meet or to wait is enhanced by the presence of fine art. The Arts in Offices program places artwork created by LAC member artists in conference rooms, waiting rooms and other open areas in the offices of LAC business members. Every three months, art that has been accepted into the program is rotated through "satellite galleries" in participating businesses, providing artists with new audiences for their paintings, graphic art, photography or sculpture. Businesses in the program have a new exhibit of original art by local talent for their clients to enjoy each quarter. As program sponsor, LAC brings artists and businesses together, coordinating exhibits and handling publicity. Artists hang and remove their work. To ensure damage-free installations, they use approved hanging systems (such as picture molding) provided by each business. Insurance for their work is the responsibility of artists who desire it. Biographical information about the artist and the work on display is available at each location. Proceeds from any sale go entirely to the artist, and inquiries from prospective buyers are directed to the artist, who handles all aspects of sales. The program partners local artists with area businesses, giving visual artists the opportunity to show and sell their work. Program coordinator Kathy Kupka said the program is successful because it brings the arts community together with art consumers and appreciators. "Arts in Offices gives artists the ongoing opportunity to get their work out to new audiences throughout the year; it also gives businesses a rotating schedule of artwork for their clients to enjoy." Eight venues and 15 artists now participate in the Arts in Offices program. The August through December 2007 schedule follows:
