Traveling Exhibition, Forever Free: Abraham Lincoln's Journey to Emancipation

Loudoun County Public Library is proud to have been selected to host this national traveling exhibition that focuses on Lincoln's quest to restore a Union divided by Civil War. The exhibition was organized by the Huntington Library and Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and made possible by major grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.

Come to a "Meet the Artists" Reception at The Gateway Gallery & Gift Shop for the "Fruit of the Vine" Exhibit.

Loudoun's newest destination for one-of-a-kind fine art and fine craft, The Gateway Gallery and Gift Shop, is hosting its first event a "Fruit of the Vine" exhibit from September 8 through October 3. The exhibit features work inspired by wine, grapes and vineyards, in a variety of media including painting, sculpture, photography, pottery, wood turning, pewter, fiberarts and jewelry. The public is invited to a "Meet the Artists" reception at the gallery Friday September 17 from 6 pm to 9 pm, to chat with the artists about their work and enjoy refreshments. The Gateway Gallery is an artists' cooperative showcasing the work of thirty local artists. The gallery is located in a bright and inviting space in the renovated Hill High Orchard Building, just west of Round Hill on Route 7 and next door to the Round Hill Arts Center, the Bogati Bodega Winery and the Hill High Country Store and Pie Shop. Special Lecture by Painter Sherry Zvares Sanabria

Neo-Realism Painter Sherry Zvares Sanabria will discuss "French Suite," her paintings of the villages and towns of southwest France. She was drawn to the unique character, diversity, charm and darkness of these historical structures. We believe you will be, too. As in other of her series, French Suite focuses on the luminous stirring light and the mysterious lingering presence of past lives. Legendary folk musician Ramblin' Jack Elliott, 2009 Grammy-winner for Best Traditional Blues Recording, is one of the most influential performers of the last fifty years. The Harvest Table at the Gateway Gallery

Visit the Gateway Gallery and Gift Shop and get into an autumnal mood at the beautiful Harvest Table exhibit, running from October 6 through November 7. Ruddigore; or, The Witch's Curse, originally called Ruddygore, is a comic opera in two acts, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert. It is one of the Savoy Operas and the tenth of fourteen comic operas written together by Gilbert and Sullivan. Maryland Opera Studio

The Maryland Opera Studio, an acclaimed performance ensemble, will present semi-staged opera scenes in the sanctuary of a historic church in Leesburg. The Studio ensemble has a devoted following that draws large audiences and critical praise for its productions: two fully produced operas in the spring and two entire operas with piano accompaniment in the fall. The University of Maryland two-year program, taught by a star-studded voice and opera faculty, includes all areas of vocal and theatrical training and awards a Master of Music in Opera Performance degree.
