She and her husband Gerry D\u2019Onofrio are co-owners of GerDora Photography, specializing in fine art photography.\r\n\r\nAlthough she had been behind the lens of a camera for decades, Dora entered her first photography competition at the Friends of Claude Moore Park Photo Expo in 2012 and was astonished to win not only the first place award in her category but also the Best in Show. This motivated her to enter the ArtSpace Herndon Fine Art Photography competition where her photographs were selected as finalists three years in a row and she took first place in 2015 with her \u201cFiling Away\u201d canvas wrap.\r\n\r\nDora has entered additional regional competitions, such as Artful August at the Village at Leesburg, Nature Visions, Loudoun Valley Arts at the Purcellville Music and Art Festival, and Catoctin Creek Distillery, Joseph Miller Abstracts, among others, and placed well in all of them. One of Dora\u2019s images was selected for the 2016 Town of Herndon calendar. She also won first place in the 2015 Reston Bike Club t-shirt competition. Her winning image was printed on the commemorative Century Ride t-shirt distributed to some 1,200 riders.\r\n\r\nDora exhibits regularly at the seasonal Art Shows at Oatlands Historic House in Leesburg. She has been part of the Art in the Pink Box Park show in Middleburg for two years and had pieces displayed at the Hunt Country Harvest Ball and Art Sale at the Salamander Resort and Spa in Middleburg in November, 2015. Along with her husband Gerry, Dora participated in the aMuse Art Fair in Winchester in May 2016.\r\n\r\nLeesburg\u2019s Thomas Balch Library was the setting for Dora\u2019s first solo exhibit. This history and genealogy library was a perfect venue to display the \"Olden Times\" themed images on canvas and she would love to have this collection exposed to other audiences.\r\n\r\nDora\u2019s fine art images are part of corporate and private collections. Her path as a fine art photographer has been recognized by several articles in the Loudoun Mirror Times Monitor.
